Oklahoma softball: Sooners lose at Kansas, Chamberlain fails to homer

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Daniella Chavez hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning Friday night, and Kansas beat Oklahoma 4-2 in Big 12 softball. Chavez’s extra-inning homer came off freshman Paige Parker, who only allowed three hits but walked five.

Parker also surrendered a two-run homer to Chaley Brickey in the fifth inning. That was the first hit Parker allowed in a game watched by 685 fans at Arrocha Ballpark.

OU’s Lauren Chamberlain failed to homer, which would have broken the NCAA career record. Chamberlain had a triple and two walks.

Shelby Pendley helped account for both Sooner runs.
