The Texas Tech transfer who sat out last season is suffering from shoulder fatigue but does not have structural damage to his throwing shoulder, a source close to the program told The Oklahoman.
Mayfield’s soreness is due to “simply throwing too many reps,” the source said.
With Justice Hansen transferring, the Sooners have just three quarterbacks on campus now —Mayfield, Trevor Knight and Cody Thomas.
