OU football: Graduate transfers Blake Countess, Matt Hegarty heading elsewhere

NORMAN -- Two potential graduate transfers who were considering Oklahoma both announced they would play elsewhere next season.

Former Michigan cornerback Blake Countess announced he will transfer to Auburn, and former Notre Dame offensive lineman Matt Hegarty is heading to Oregon.

Countess started 30 career games at Michigan, earning All-Big Ten first-team honors after his redshirt sophomore season in 2013 when he recorded six interceptions. He was expected to visit Oklahoma next weekend.

Hegarty started 11 of 13 games last season at center and guard for Notre Dame.

The Sooners could have used the help in both the defensive backfield and on the offensive line.
