Thunder: Russell Westbrook marks historic season with MVP award

Russell Westbrook took his place among the Most Valuable Players in NBA history Monday night.

Westbrook was named the 2016-17 NBA MVP in front of his peers at the league's first-ever awards show at Basketball City on Pier 36 in New York City. While the Thunder's season ended early via a first-round postseason loss to Houston, the votes were in well before, and Westbrook was seen as the favorite following an historic regular season which saw him become the first player since Oscar Robertson in 1961-62 to average a triple-double (31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 10.4 assists).

Fresh off the plane from a week in Paris taking in the world's hottest fashion, those who follow the league anticipated Westbrook would arrive at his night wearing an outlandish outfit.
