Russell Westbrook piling up the monster triple doubles

Russell Westbrook long ago trivialized triple doubles. He’s even trivialized triple-double seasons.

When Westbrook posted the epic numbers of 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists in 2016-17, it was a world phenomenon. Westbrook had scaled Mount Oscar Robertson, considered an unreachable summit.

Only one year later, Westbrook finished with average of 25.4 points, 10.1 rebounds and 10.3 assists. Hardly anyone noticed.

This season, same. Westbrook’s averages are 22.7 points, 10.1 rebounds and 10.0 assists. It’s not a blip on the radar.

Here’s how routine Westbrook’s production has become. Twice in the last 10 days, Westbrook has posted not only triple doubles, but monster triple doubles.
