Holiday shopping season is upon us, when college assistant football coaches repackage themselves into head-coaching jobs elsewhere and schools scour the shelves for the best deals at the best prices, which unfortunately for athletic directors keep going up, up, up.

Ohio State finds itself in the middle of the gift-giving mayhem again this year, as our Tim May reported that defensive coordinator Luke Fickell, offensive coordinator Ed Warinner and cornerbacks/special teams coordinator Kerry Coombs all could be in the running for the top job at Cincinnati. Warinner’s name also has been linked to Western Kentucky, which just lost Jeff Brohm to Purdue.
