Ohio State loses to Illinois, 1-0, on wild pitch in the 15th inning

A pitcher's duel in Champaign ended in heartbreak for the Buckeyes.

In a pitcher's duel that lasted 15 innings, saw nine pitchers take the mound, and 413 pitches thrown, it was a wild pitch that handed Illinois a 1-0 extra inning win over Ohio State in Champaign on Friday night.

Jack Yalowitz stood on third with two outs in the bottom of the 15th inning when Buckeye reliever Kyle Michalik's tailing fastball eluded the glove of catcher Jalen Washington. Yalowitz scored the only run of the game to give the Illini the walk-off win.

Ohio State fell to 4-6 in Big Ten play, while the Illini improved to 5-5, moving into a tie with Maryland for seventh place in the conference standings.
