Ohio State baseball | Zach Farmer dies after fight with leukemia, newspaper reports

Former Ohio State pitcher Zach Farmer has died after a 15-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia, the Chillicothe Gazette reported. Farmer was 21.

The Gazette attributed the news of Farmer's death to Gene Bumgardner, Farmer's high-school coach in Piketon, Ohio.

In April 2014, Farmer told OSU baseball coach Greg Beals that he was feeling weak and dizzy after throwing on the side. Beals alerted trainers, and the first thought was that Farmer had mononucleosis. Additional tests that May diagnosed leukemia.

OSU players and coaches showed their solidarity by being tested to see whether they were a bone-marrow match.
