I'd straight up forgotten about this until he brought it up, but this uh... did not age well.
Let's not forget that my teammate at OSU & Oakland, Terrelle, was facing 5 game suspension in college & elected to go to the NFL instead. The NFL upheld a college suspension making him miss 5 game checks. Not because of any criminal offense. Because he traded his stuff for cash.

I cannot even imagine the backlash if the NFL tried to do this today, and everyone was just cool with it when it happened 10 years ago.
