Summary of Urban Meyer Call-In Show this morning in regards to the Defense.
* Meyer praised Vrabel for the development of the Defensive Line. Also specifically praised Vrabel for developing Chris Carter and Chase Farris. Meyer said he couldn't believe Chris Carter now has the ability to contribute 30-35 plays a game. Said Carter is down to 340.
* Meyer said there's nothing wrong with Michael Hill just that Chris Carter and Chase Farris is playing well.
* When Washington and Schutt comes back they will have a deep rotation on the DL.
* The defense worked on stopping the screens. Said the DB's need to pull the trigger faster when recognize screen. DL worked on retracing their steps.
* Meyer said Ryan Shazier is their best LB followed by Curtis Grant.
* Josh Perry might be the most talent LB they have but it hasn't come together. Great kid comes from a great family.
* Meyer said he has personally challenged Luke Fickell. Meyer said this going on 2 years in a row now, where the Defense is not where they should be at when it comes to Linebacker play.
* Meyer said the talent is there and they're also recruiting to fix depth issues.
* Fickell's been showing film to the LB's of James Laurinaitis.
* After watching the film the effort is there but he's sick of the big plays the defense is giving up. If he sees an effort issue there will be a big problem but he's happy with the overall effort.
* Meyer chuckled when the host asked him what did he think about Cal hosting the top 150 players in California for a home game for the Buckeyes.
