3 Reasons Why Ohio State Is Guaranteed To Beat Clemson In The College Football Playoff

The Ohio State Buckeyes are set to take on Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinals in what could be the game of the year. Many expect Clemson to make a return trip to the national championship game and face Alabama again, but Ohio State is going to throw a wrench into those plans. Here are three reasons why Ohio State is guaranteed to beat Clemson:

3) Clemson's inconsistency
Time and time again this season, Clemson has needed to pull off last minute comebacks (or stops) to win several games against lesser competition this season. In fact, they have played in seven games that were decided by a single possession. Against a team like Ohio State, they won't be able to rely on winning the game in a miraculous finish. The Buckeyes have already proven they know what it takes to win big games.

2) Ohio State's dominant defense
Ohio State only returned three starters from last year's star-studded defense, but there's no doubting them as one of the best units in the country this season. Even though their offense has been inconsistent all year, this unit is the biggest reason why they're in the College Football Playoff. They have only given up 18 touchdowns all season, and rank fourth in yards allowed (282 per game) and third in points allowed (14.2 per game).

Clemson's offense has a tendency to turn the ball over, specifically quarterback Deshaun Watson. Expect Ohio State to force a turnover or two that will change the game.

1) Explosive rushing attack
The team that runs the ball best is almost always the team that is able to control and dictate the flow of the game, which will be extremely crucial in a game of this magnitude. Clemson is an average rushing team, ranking 69th in the country, while Ohio State is one of the best, ranking in the top 10 nationally. Look for the offense to control the ball and wear down Clemson's thin defense.
