Greg Windham came off the bench Friday night and nearly engineered a stunning upset of Western Michigan in the MAC Championship game in Detroit. Unfortunately for Ohio, Windham threw an interception to end a would-be late game-tying drive for the Bobcats, sealing heavily favored WMU’s 29-23 victory.
Windham’s redshirt senior season has been a rollercoaster ride after he lost Ohio’s starting quarterback job midseason to redshirt freshman Quinton Maxwell. Midway through the first quarter Friday night, Windham relieved an extremely ineffective Maxwell with the Bobcats down 9-0. Maxwell had failed to complete a pass and lost a fumble before being benched.
