Hagan emerging as key part of Ohio secondary

Over the last two weeks, there’s been no missing Javon Hagan on the football field.

As part of the Ohio defense, Hagan has made big hits, stripped fumbles, snared interceptions and made critical tackles on the line of scrimmage.

Given the opportunity because of injury, Hagan — a redshirt freshman out of Jacksonville, Fla. — has run with it. He’s delivered at both free and strong safety for the Bobcats.

And it may not be enough to earn him a third consecutive start. Hagan has started the past two games at strong safety, but incumbent Kylan Nelson is expected to be healthy enough to return to the lineup in a full time role on Saturday when the Bobcats face Eastern Michigan inside Peden Stadium.
