Despite loss, ’Cats upbeat about Carter

While the sting of losing reigning Mid-American Conference Player of the Year Antonio Campbell for the season due to a broken foot still hurts, some members of the Ohio Bobcat men’s team believe his replacement may take home that same honor.

Speaking at Tuesday’s post-game press conference following Ohio’s 79-76 home loss to Toledo, point-guard Jaaron Simmons confidently predicted that freshman forward Jason Carter will win MAC Player of the Year before his tenure in Athens is over.

“Jaaron doesn’t throw compliments around very easily,” Ohio coach Saul Phillips said of Simmons’ praise. “You’ve got to earn his respect.
