Oakland Raiders pass on DJ Hayden’s fifth year option

The Oakland Raiders officially put 2013 first round draft pick DJ Hayden on notice as they passed on picking up his fifth-year option, a sign that the team will be ready to move on from the struggling cornerback if he fails to improve during the final year of his rookie contract. Putting the pressure on Hayden to produce and turn around the perception of being the team’s biggest liability in pass coverage.

League sources confirmed that the Raiders passed on Hayden’s fifth-year option on deadline day, surprising nobody as it was expected that Reggie McKenzie wouldn’t commit to a player who has been a bust in Oakland so far.
