Each position group for the Raiders will be analyzed heading into the NFL draft. First up, quarterbacks.
Starter: Derek Carr.
Backups: Christian Ponder, Matt McGloin.
Analysis: Carr goes in as the unquestioned starter. Barring injury, it’s inconceivable that he could meet the same fate as either of the last two Matts (Flynn, Schaub) given his status as a home-grown talented drafted and developed by the organization. Ponder’s cap number of $2.25 million suggests he’ll be Carr’s backup. So does his background with Bill Musgrave, who was his offensive coordinator in Minnesota.
