Playing catch up after spending Tuesday and Wednesday at the NFL owner’s meetings:
— No reason to fret about the absence of quarterback Derek Carr in May, even with an ESPN report suggesting the Raiders’ second-year quarterback may require surgery for a finger injury.
Carr’s camp denies surgery is an option (first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle) and fully expects him to be full-go for training camp in July.
It’s natural for Raider fans to be concerned. In each of the last two offseasons a presumptive starting quarterback _ first Matt Flynn and then Matt Schaub _ ended up losing his job in part because of injury.
