On Saturday the Oakland Raiders surprisingly cut safety Jonathan Dowling, citing maturity issues as the concern as the former seventh round draft pick was no longer deemed a fit with the new coaching staff and roster. Head coach Jack Del Rio commenting on Sunday night following the Raiders game against the Cardinals that they opted to give him a chance to go elsewhere after determining he wouldn’t be in the team’s plans going forward.
Being placed on waivers it appears that Dowling will have his chance to go wherever he wants as it has been reported that the safety has passed through the waiver wire and is now officially a free agent.
