Time was when teams like the Astros wanted to follow the path of the A’s.
You know, the whole Moneyball thing, going after players on a data-driven basis and putting old ideas of what makes for competitive baseball roster to the side.
Times have changed. Now teams like the A’s, who are in Houston’s Minute Maid Park for three games starting Tuesday night, would like nothing better than to grow up to be the Astros.
There is an immediacy in that the Astros are in the midst of a monstrously terrific season, having wore more than two out of every three games they’ve played.
