–Winding down your baseball career? Come to the A’s and make the Hall of Fame! Tim Raines joined quite a list this week that already included Mike Piazza, Willie McCovey, Orlando Cepeda, Goose Gossage, Joe Morgan, Frank Thomas, Billy Williams and Don Sutton. And Reggie Jackson came back at the end, too, just to make sure.
–Not sure why it didn’t work for Dick “Wampum” Allen, but maybe one day.
–If you want to go back to pre-Oakland days, you can add Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Zack Wheat, Waite Hoyt and Satchel Paige to that curious list of Hall of Famers who took their last baseball breaths as A’s.
