Happier A’s with CBA changes, new team president

MESA, Ariz. — One overlooked aspect of major-league baseball’s new labor agreement will have more impact on players’ daily lives than anything else in the massive document.

Clubhouse food and amenities — topics that players in smaller markets or on lower payroll teams often complain about — are set to become far more consistent from city to city, under the new agreement. Teams themselves are now responsible for making sure their players are acceptably fed, rather than players paying for clubhouse fare out of their meal money and then discovering that, in some places, that doesn’t equate to nutritious or appetizing choices.
