Gray, Graveman among A’s early standouts

MESA, Ariz. - Oakland’s top three starters were in action Monday, throwing to hitters for the first time this spring, and manager Bob Melvin said that Sonny Gray, Kendall Graveman and Sean Manaea all threw the ball “really well.”

Graveman got particularly high praise for a quick and smooth session. “Graveman’s command, this early in camp, is a testament to how hard he’s working and how far he’s come,” Melvin said.

Stephen Vogt caught Graveman and, he said, “He was great. Movement on the fastball, the cutter was really good, he was down in the zone.
