De Jed vu: A's, Astros swing familiar deal

Lowrie hit .271 over two seasons with the A's following his trade from Houston on Feb. 4, 2013, before he re-signed with the Astros as a free agent last offseason for three years and $23 million, with a fourth-year team option worth $6 million.

The 31-year-old got off to a fast start in his second stint in Houston and hit .300 with four home runs in 60 at-bats, before succumbing to a torn ligament in his right thumb. Upon his return in late July, with his everyday shortstop role taken by rookie phenom Carlos Correa, Lowrie went on to play mostly third base the rest of the way.
