A’s fall to Mariners but Zach Neal makes an impact

SEATTLE - Raul Alcantara finally made it to the big leagues this month, nearly five years after coming over from Boston in the Andrew Bailey trade, and he’ll be among those contending for the fourth or fifth spot in Oakland’s rotation next year.

Alcantara will need to bring down the number of homers allowed if he’s to stick in Oakland. He gave up four Friday in the A’s 5-1 loss to the Mariners, including two by Robinson Cano, helping Seattle keep its wild-card hopes alive. And in recurring news, the A’s have dropped 10 of their past 11 games.
