Rookie Boog Powell, stuck in a 1-for-18 funk entering Monday’s game, spent the last week doing extra work with hitting coach Darren Bush and assistant hitting coach Marcus Jensen.
“It’s been a tough week hitting-wise with my hitting coaches - they’re throwing a lot at me, but at the same time, I love it. I don’t mind it at all,” Powell said before the A’s game against the Angels. “It’s just a lot thinking about all of it, working on it in the cage and trying to take it into the game. Hopefully it goes into my swing and if not, I’ll keep practicing.
