LOS ANGELES – Sonny Gray was in vintage form Tuesday night, and the timing couldn’t have been better.
With the A’s still reeling from the trades of three key veterans over the past six days, Oakland’s ace fired his second shutout in his past four starts, dominating the Dodgers in a 2-0 victory to open this two-game interleague series.
It halted a four-game losing streak for the A’s, but more importantly, it provided a much-needed boost for a roster that basically saw the white flag raised on the 2015 season with the trades of pitchers Scott Kazmir, Tyler Clippard and second baseman Ben Zobrst .
