PHILADELPHIA — The Denver lacrosse program's postseason ceiling is no longer the NCAA tournament semifinals. It just took a little extra time to make it happen.
Wesley Berg scored the game-winner with 2:03 left in overtime off a Tyler Pace feed as the fourth-seeded Pioneers edged top-seeded Notre Dame 11-10 at Lincoln Financial Field.
Pace had two goals and two assists as the Pioneers (16-2) won a semifinal for the first time in four trips, all since 2011.
Denver advances to Monday's final to meet the winner of Saturday's second semifinal between sixth-seeded Maryland (14-3) and unseeded Johns Hopkins (11-6).
