ST. LOUIS -- The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team earned the No. 3 seed and will play No. 6-seeded Missouri State on Friday at 8:30 p.m. in the 2017 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament held at Scottrade Center.
Illinois State is the State Farm MVC Tournament top seed for the first time in 20 seasons. The Redbirds, which shared the league regular-season title with Wichita State, earned the tiebreaker (overall RPI as of Sunday, Feb. 26). The teams split their regular-season series, but ISU earned the higher seed using the league's secondary tiebreaker with an RPI figure of 34, compared to Wichita State's 40 (Collegiate Basketball News RPI Report).
