Jacobson: Rebounding problems 'have to change' for UNI

CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — Wednesday’s opening push contained many troubling elements, but Ben Jacobson raised one above the rest.

“To start the game and give up (a number of) offensive rebounds in the first handful of possessions,” the Northern Iowa coach said, “I thought that set a tone and really hurt us.”

En route to another sluggish night on the glass — an ongoing theme so far this season — the Panthers surrendered seven offensive boards in the first six minutes of Wednesday’s 54-50 loss to George Mason. The Patriots finished with a 53-30 rebounding advantage and corralled the most boards by a McLeod Center opponent since the arena opened in 2006.
