Over the years, the Iowa Energy have been able to bolster their roster with players who have ties to the state.
The Energy have had players like Curtis Stinson, Jeff Horner and Matt Gatens.
Iowa’s NBA Development League team now has another familiar face.
Cedar Rapids native and former Northern Iowa basketball player Wes Washpun has signed with the Energy.
Washpun could be in uniform when the Energy take on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Arena. The game will be broadcast on ESPNews.
"I'm really excited about getting him, and I think he can help out our team," said Energy coach Matt Woodley.
