Local roundup: NIU men, women pick up road wins; Sycamore boys advance to sectionals

Levi Bradley scored all 12 of his points in the second half and ignited a 17-0 run as the Northern Illinois University men’s basketball team defeated Bowling Green, 69-52, for its second straight road win.

The Huskies (11-6 overall, 3-1 Mid-American Conference) led most of the first half and were up 33-31 when when a bucket from Bradley opened a 17-0 NIU run. Jaylen Key added a layup off glass, senior Dontel Highsmith converted an old-fashioned three-point play, Bradley added a three-point play and a corner triple as the Huskies led 52-37. The run continued as Bradley knocked down a pair from the line and Key added another basket to give NIU a 19-point lead with 7:39 left.
