History of the week: Football shuts out Arkansas State University

NIU football finally pulled it together to come up with a great team win on this day in 1992, according to a Sept. 21, 1992 Northern Star article.

Coming off eight consecutive losses, both the offense and defense had an outstanding day blowing out the Arkansas State Indians 31-0. The Huskies were having a rough season so far and hoped the win would turn their season around.

Earning their first shutout of the year, the defense played a hard-fought game. The defense finished with three interceptions, one fumble recovery, and three quarterback sacks. A few key players on defense that had a stand out day were Tony Smith with an impressive ten tackle day and a quarterback sack.
