1. vs. SMU (Sept. 1): UNT meets its longtime rival in its season opener at Apogee Stadium. The Mustangs lead the all-time series 31-5-1 and have beaten the Mean Green in three straight seasons. UNT will have one of its best chances to knock off SMU in years as Sonny Dykes coaches his first regular-season game for the Mustangs.
