HIGHLAND PARK, ILL.—Austin Greaser, a rising senior at the University of North Carolina, made a three-foot putt for par on the final hole to defeat Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira 1 up in the championship match to win the 120th Western Amateur on Saturday at the Exmoore Country Club. Greaser is the fourth Tar Heel to win the Western Amateur, joining Greg Parker (1986), John Inman (1984) and Frank Fuhrer (1981).
Greaser, a two-time All-ACC and All-America, trailed twice in the final match by two holes but rallied to win four straight holes on the back nine to win the match.
