Carter High takes place in the 1980s, when the school’s powerhouse football team was on its way to a state championship season. Then, controversy about eligibility and a robbery scandal rocked the community. The team was portrayed as the villain in the 2004 film Friday Night Lights. (Dallas Morning News)
