As hurricane creeps closer, a UNC RENCI supercomputer swings into action

As Hurricane Matthew makes it way toward the U.S., RENCI’s supercomputer, named Hatteras, is working overtime. The work to apply high performance computing and data analysis to understanding dangerous storm surge is part of a long-term collaboration involving RENCI, the Coastal Resilience Center at UNC-Chapel Hill, and UNC’s Institute of Marine Sciences.
