CHAPEL HILL - It will be an all-North Carolina singles final as Sara Daavettila and Jessie Aney advanced to the championship match on Monday at the ITA Carolinas Regional from Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Top-seed Daavettila outlasted fourth-seed Martina Frantova of NC State in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 in a semifinal match on Sunday afternoon.
On the other side of the bracket, third seeded Aney knocked off second seed Ingrid Martins of South Carolina in a nail-biting three set bout, 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (3).
Daavettila and Aney will face off on Monday in Chapel Hill at 2 p.
