NEWARK, N.J. -- Devils defenseman Bryce Salvador has retired after nearly 800 games in 14 NHL seasons.

The NHL Players' Association announced Salvador's retirement on Wednesday.

Salvador was a captain for the Devils the past three seasons but missed all but 15 games last season with a back injury.
