Donovan McNabb is making a name for himself as an analyst as someone who makes controversial remarks, and his latest jab comes at Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.
During a radio interview with The Game 87.7 in Chicago, McNabb said that Cutler wasn't a winner.
“Can he play in this league? Absolutely, he’s proven that," explained McNabb. "But a quarterback is measured by your body of work, meaning your wins and losses record, the numbers you put up. And the end-all be-all is how many playoff wins do you have? How many playoff appearances do you have? If you only have one to show for almost a decade of play that means you can’t lead your team to the playoffs.
“He’s the Tony Romo of the Midwest. We can talk about arm talent, we can talk about being able to throw a ball through a wall. He can put up 280, 340 yards passing, but you look across the board he’s got two interceptions in a game that cost them 14 points or so. That hurts a football team...They have some talent around Cutler, that’s never been the issue. Now can you put it all together? To be honest, the answer is no.”
McNabb also compared Cutler to Romo earlier in the interview, saying both are "accidents waiting to happen" that will turn the football over.
Cutler is coming off of a 381 yard, 1 TD performance in a 27-13 over the Atlanta Falcons on the road. The Bears are 3-3 on the year and have expectations of making the playoffs this season.
As for Romo, he's led the Dallas Cowboys to a 5-1 record so far this season, which is tied for best in the league.
