Cheick Tiote tributes continue to pour in as Beijing Enterprises fans lay flowers in memory of tragic former midfielder

The football world continues to mourn the tragic death of former Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote.

The Ivory Coast international collapsed suddenly and suffered a heart attack during a training session with Chinese club Beijing Enterprises on Monday and, despite attempts to revive him, he died in hospital an hour later.

Tributes to the popular former midfielder poured in almost immediately after news of his passing had been made public, with former Magpies team-mates including Demba Ba, Jonas Gutierrez, Joey Barton and Papiss Cisse all paying tribute to the 30-year-old.

Rafa Benitez and Alan Pardew, who both managed Tiote at Newcastle, also shared memories of their former player and offered their condolences to his family

Vincent Kompany, a former team-mate of Tiote's at Anderlecht, also paid tribute to his friend while the likes of Gareth Bale, Gary Lineker and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer all tweeted after hearing the news

Mourning continued in China on Tuesday as Beijing Enterprises fans laid flowers on the centre spot of their Olympic Sports Centre Stadium pitch in the Chinese capital, while head coach Gao Hongbo addressed the media on Tuesday morning.
