Burton Albion 1-2 Newcastle: Dwight Gayle and Mohamed Diame extend Magpies Championship lead

Newcastle extended their lead at the top of the Championship table to four points with a 2-1 win away at Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Dwight Gayle kept up his impressive scoring record with an improvised finish early on before Lloyd Dyer leveled the scores with a well-worked goal midway through the first half.

Mohamed Diame showed great strength to restore Newcastle's one-goal advantage shortly before the break.

Rafa Benitez's men held out for a goalless second half to record their 16th league victory this season.
