Yankees interested in former Mets first baseman Ike Davis

Ike Davis might have a chance to make it in New York after all - with the Yankees.

The former Met first baseman's name surfaced Thursday when Yankees GM Brian Cashman confirmed that the club had been talking with Davis, currently a free agent, in light of Yankee Greg Bird being lost for this season due to shoulder surgery.

“We’ve talked to Ike Davis, but that’s all I can tell you really. We’ve talked to a lot of people. In terms of the Greg Bird scenario, we clearly have a need for an everyday first baseman in Scranton (the Yankees’ Triple-A club),” said Cashman, who was at a Midtown fundraiser at NYY Steakhouse Thursday night.
