SAN DIEGO — Shortly after Chad Green helped the Yankees avoid being swept by the lowly Padres Sunday at Petco Park, manager Joe Girardi wasn’t ready to talk about where the right-hander fits into his pitching staff.
“It’s five minutes after the game,’’ Girardi said following the 6-3 win the 25-year-old Green had a huge hand in.
CC Sabathia starts Monday against the White Sox and will be followed by Masahiro Tanaka and Michael Pineda. Nathan Eovaldi likely will open a four-game series against the Indians in Cleveland Thursday and Ivan Nova goes Friday. This is where it gets sticky.
