Chapman loses job as Yankees' closer

BOSTON -- The Yankees have removed Aroldis Chapman from the closer's role following a fourth straight ineffective appearance, with manager Joe Girardi stating on Saturday that the team will not necessarily have a set closer between Dellin Betances and David Robertson.

Chapman struggled in New York's 9-6 loss to the Red Sox on Friday at Fenway Park, surrendering a two-run single to Jackie Bradley Jr. in an appearance that also included the left-hander failing to hold runners on a double steal and neglecting to back up home plate. Chapman has allowed seven runs in his last four games.
