Yankees to trade for Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki?

In today's Yankees rumors and news update, rumors are intensifying surrounding a potential trade for Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki this offseason or before the 2015 MLB trade deadline.

According to Johnette Howard of ESPN New York, there are plenty of reason why Yankees fans should be optimistic about a potential trade for the dynamic infielder - including the Yankees' ability to take on his massive contract:

Now, the best reason to still consider the possibility that Tulowitzki, the best all-around shortstop in the game, could end up in New York isn't just that he already fills those roles for Colorado. Or that the Yankees could absorb the seven years left on his $157.5 million contract that runs through the 2020 season, with a club option for 2021.

The reason to pay attention to the Tulowitzki talk is Tulowitzki himself doesn't dismiss it.

Tulowitzki has been open about talking about a move to the Yanks, while even seeming open to the possibility of moving to the perennial contender with its deep pocketbooks and aggressive roster building methods.

"I want to be somewhere where there's a chance to be in the playoffs every single year," Tulowitzki has said.

If the Rockies can't provide that under their current construction, gaining a haul from the Yankees in return for Tulo could be of benefit to the franchise - while moving the perennial All-Star to the place he might have wanted to be all along.
