Yankees' game-day flight to Toronto might have been ill-advised

TORONTO - It was, perhaps, an example of the difference between theory and reality.

The Yankees made what Joe Girardi called an "organizational decision" to travel Monday afternoon to Toronto after Sunday night's game in Boston.

Clubs usually depart immediately after a Sunday night game, which MLB prefers, and generally arrive in the next city anywhere from 3:30-5 a.m.

Consultation with sleep experts brought Monday's itinerary, which called for an 11:30 a.m. flight -- one that ended up taking off about an hour late -- from Boston to Toronto. The usual flight time is about 1 hour, 45 minutes.
