Yankees Rumors: Red Sox will be last team paying tribute to Jeter

Yankees rumors and news will be one giant tribute to legendary New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter throughout the 2014 season.

It seems only fitting that the NY Yankees' most-hated rival will be the last team during the regular season to show their appreciation for what Derek Jeter has meant to baseball as a whole.

ESPN.com's Andrew Marchand just posted an article detailing the twelve most-important dates for Derek Jeter during the upcoming season, and September 28th in Boston may be the most interesting and bizarrely heartfelt presentation of all--

"The Red Sox will be the final team to make a presentation to Jeter. Considering how they sent Mo out by showing how they beat him, let's hope the Red Sox don't start a video tribute with Jeter's ankle cracking in the 2012 ALCS."

You can see the tribute to Hall-of-Famer-to-be Mariano Rivera here, in order to prep for the hijinx to come in late-September.

It is also interesting to note that September 28th is only date number eleven on Marchand's list of twelve important dates for the NY Yankees shortstop.

Number twelve?

October.

"If the Yankees are still playing, every day will be memorable because this is the month --along with November -- that truly made him a legend."
