Yankees Rumors: Bernie Williams and Jorge Posada could have their numbers retired in 2014

Yankees rumors are heating up with Spring Training just around the corner, and there are some retired Bronx Bombers who are being added to the annual Hot Stove conversation.

Yankees' owner Hal Steinbrenner spoke with the New York Post's Ken Davidoff, and stated that legendary manager Joe Torre "may not be the only one" to have his number retired at Yankee Stadium in 2014. In regards to a decision on who may join Torre, Steinbrenner went on to say that Yankees' management have not "gotten to it yet."

The two most likely candidates for enshrinement alongside legendary Yankee manager Joe Torre are former catcher Jorge Posada and former outfielder Bernie Williams. Posada's number 20 has not been worn in the 2 years since he retired, and Williams' number 51 has not been worn by a Yankee since his curtain call in 2006.

Other former Yankees such as Paul O' Neill and Andy Pettitte could be in the running to have their respective Yankee numbers retired, but as of now, all of the clues are pointing to Williams and Posada as front-runners for the honor.
