Nervous Jones has scoreless pitching debut

NEW YORK -- Garrett Jones finally got his chance to see what it feels like to be a pitcher in the big leagues, though it came under circumstances that he and the Yankees would have much rather avoided.

Jones abandoned first base and stepped on the rubber to get the final two outs of the top of the ninth inning in Saturday's 15-4 loss to the Rangers at Yankee Stadium, marking his first pitching appearance since he was a senior at Andrew High School in Tinley Park, Ill.

"I was a little scared and nervous," Jones said.
