Girardi discusses Teixeira’s rant after 3B coach’s green light

Yankees manager Joe Girardi didn’t have a problem with Mark Teixeira pitching a fit in the dugout Monday night. Third-base coach Joe Espada told him to go easy rounding third base, but Teixeira was thrown out at the plate to end the eighth.

“The one thing we want from our players is intensity. Joe Espada has done a tremendous job coaching third and coaching our infielders,’’ Girardi said Monday evening. “Everything is OK. We talked about it and moved on. To me it’s a non-factor…. Tex displays a lot of intensity every day he plays.’’

Girardi acknowledged the Blue Jays obtained a quality player in Troy Tulowitzki, but didn’t play the what-if game because the Yankees haven’t made a deal while the Blue Jays and Royals have.
